Kiratiana has worked in executive recruiting for more than ten years. Her desire to find "rockstar" talent who will positively transform their companies and industries spurs her work. She specializes in non-profit and government searches in the following industries and sectors: human resources, higher education, social justice, journalism, law enforcement, and community development.
At the start of her executive recruiting career, Freelon worked with the Boulware Group, a boutique executive search firm based in Chicago. There, she developed strategic approaches to identify exceptional talent tailored to each client's needs. She then moved on to support the Gumbs & Partners executive search firm, assisting in searches of some of the most influential social justice and advocacy organizations in the United States.
In addition to her work as an executive recruiter, Kiratiana Freelon is also an active freelance writer and journalist. Her work, driven by a deep commitment to social justice, has appeared in The Washington Post, The Guardian, NPR, Essence magazine, New York Magazine, and more. She has also authored two books, "Kiratiana's Travel Guide to Black Paris" (2010) and "Kiratiana's Travel Guide to Multicultural London" (2012).
Freelon holds a degree in economics from Harvard University and a Master’s in journalism from the City University of New York.
